The Korean Zombie Fights Ricardo Lamas at UFC 162
- Updated: March 14, 2013

A top featherweight bout has been added to the already stellar UFC 162 main card. With Anderson Silva defending his middleweight title against Chris Weidman in the main event, one would think it can’t get any better right? Wrong actually, with fan favorite, ”The Korean Zombie,” Chan Sung Jung facing off against Ricardo Lamas, this according to UFC officials.
At the moment Lamas is ranked No. 2 in the division behind Chad Mendes and after making nice work of Erik Koch at UFC on FOX 6 this past January, the featherweight expected the call for a title shot. Unfortunately the UFC has a habit of not using the rankings to determine title fights as much as they should, with UFC president Dana White opting to give Anthony Pettis the title shot against Jose Aldo because it looked like a good fight.
This means that Lamas will now face off against Chan Sung Jung in a top contender match-up, which will determine who will be next in line to face Aldo. Right now Jung is the No. 4 contender in the UFC rankings and has won the crowd over with his exciting fights since he arrived in the US back in 2010. His last fight was back in May, 2012, where he and Dustin Poirier put on a Fight of the Year performance, with the Korean now fully recovered from a shoulder injury he received last year and ready for action once again.
An interesting bout no doubt, who do you think will produce the goods and get their shot at Jose Aldo? If you have any thoughts then leave them in the comment section below and make sure to check out our Facebook and Google+ pages for more of today’s MMA news.
